The Taormina Jazz Festival opens a new edition that confirms its international vocation and its ever-deepening connection between musical innovation, art and visual culture. Following the great success of the previous edition, the festival is preparing to offer new emotions once again, transforming Taormina into an open-air stage.
From July 23 to 26, the city will host an extraordinary program featuring some of the biggest names in contemporary jazz. The festival’s main concerts will take place in the Public Gardens of Taormina. Starting on July 23, the Alfredo Rodríguez Trio will take the stage with a project combining Afro-Cuban rhythm, sonic intensity and improvisation. On July 25, Roberto Gatto, one of the most prestigious drummers on the European scene, will be the evening’s featured artist. Joined by his quartet and with the extraordinary participation of Pietro Tonolo, he will bring to life a tribute dedicated to two jazz legends: Miles Davis and John Coltrane. The festival will close on July 26 at the Ancient Greek Theatre of Taormina with Cécile McLorin Salvant, one of the most sophisticated and visionary voices in international jazz. We’re back.
